Determining the Right Commercial Fertiliser
There are various commercial fertiliser packages available for sale in the market today and selecting the right one is essential. When buying fertilisers, you may notice a series of three numbers on the pack such as “10-10-10” that actually resembles the ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (commonly known as NPK) that the fertiliser is composed of. Nitrogen is a major nutrient for green, healthy leaves while phosphorus helps in the development of the plants’ roots. Potassium promotes healthy and strong flowers and fruits. Depending on the type of plants you want to be fertilised, you can buy fertiliser packs that contain one nutrient than the others, such as 12-12-17 that means the fertiliser has more potassium than the rest. To keep your grass lawns green and healthy, fertilisers with higher nitrogen content is essential. Similarly, when you are growing root crops, higher phosphorus content is necessary.
